My name is Manuel. I spend part of the week in Katzenelnbogen - a small town in the Rhein-Lahn district of Rhineland-Palatinate, about 50 kilometers (30 miles) northwest of Frankfurt am Main in the Taunus region - and the other half in Marburg, where my girlfriend lives. This way, I get to enjoy the best of both worlds: the peace and nature of the Taunus, as well as the vibrant atmosphere of the university city of Marburg.
My radio station is located in Katzenelnbogen but is fully remote-controlled. Through a remote connection, I can operate it from Marburg - or anywhere else - without any limitations, just as if I were sitting right at the station.
I share my home with a fascinating variety of terrarium animals, including land crabs, poison dart frogs, and giant beetles. They live in lovingly and authentically designed rainforest terrariums that give my living room a truly special atmosphere.
Even though we might seem a bit unusual at first glance, we’re really quite normal. We love hiking in nature, cooking together, BBQing, and relaxing in my garden. On the other hand, we also enjoy attending festivals and concerts around the world within the dark electronic scene, which includes genres like EBM, Gothic, Dark Wave, 80’s, Dark Techno, New Wave, and Hard Techno.
After completing my studies, I founded a marketing and advertising agency that, over the years - with dedication and hard work - became one of the best-known agencies in Germany. I also program in several languages, which often comes in handy as a ham radio operator.
My main interests in amateur radio include remote operation, station automation, DXing, SSB, EME, satellite operation, digital modes, APRS, C4FM, "FM-FUNKNETZ", and antenna design.
